The Doorway page module creates sophisticated doorway pages. You can decide whether you wish to use the provided template or your own perhaps more efficiently created template.
In addition, the Doorway page module allows you to define your own tags, so that you can generate individual and optimized doorway pages.
Note: Doorway pages are HTML documents which aim to achieve a better ranking at search engines and to attract more visitors to your website.
To generate doorway pages using the Doorway page wizard, select the wizard from the Wizards section. Follow the wizard's steps by clicking Next. On the welcome page of the wizard, you can create a new doorway page project or open an existing project. To create a new project click Next to open a project click Open. Then you can select an existing .dpg file to use the included information without having to enter it again.
Note: In general, we do not recommend to use doorway pages. However, in some cases the use of doorway pages may be reasonable. In addition, it is up to you to decide if you want to hazard the consequences of using doorway pages for improving your website's ranking. We offer you the tool for it, but you make the decision.
In this step of the wizard, you enter general details which are required for generating doorway pages:
Target URL: Enter the URL of the document to which your doorway page should lead. Please be aware that doorway pages only aim to forward visitors to your target URL via the search engine. The doorway page itself seldom contains reasonable content which can be seen by visitors.
Website folder: Here you enter the folder of your website. You can use the Browse button.
Doorway pages subfolder: Enter the name for the subfolder, in which you want the program to generate the doorway pages. After having successfully generated doorway pages, you can upload the directory to your webserver and submit it to search engines.
Doorway page script name: Here you enter the name of the java script file which is created by the program.
Template: Select a template for the creation of doorway pages.
In the third step of the wizard, you can edit the predefined parameters. The program uses eight parameters.
Note: You cannot delete these predefined parameters in the program. However, you do not need to use all tags. If you do not wish to use some parameters, you can delete them from the template.
To add a new parameter, do as follows:
In the displayed dialog box in the Caption field, enter a name for the tag. This is the name that appears in the list.
In the Tag field, enter the desired tag. This tag is then replaced in the template by a specified value. Select a non-ambiguous identifier.
Then click OK to close the dialog box.
Note: Tags you have created by yourself are only available for the respective project. If you create a new doorway page project, only the standard tags are available.
In the fourth step of the wizard, you can add doorway pages. To do so, proceed as follows:
Click Add to add a new doorway page.
In the Properties/Tag values window, specify the values for the new doorway page.
Repeat these steps to create as many doorway pages as you like.
Tip: Click on the right of each field to open the appropriate editor. You can also modify huge HTML code conveniently using the HTML editor.
In the last step of the wizard, you generate the doorway pages:
Click Generate, to generate the doorway pages in the specified folder.
Upload the content of the generated folder to your website, and submit your files to search engines (but not to directories!).
Click Save to save your project.
This step is important because otherwise search engines cannot index your doorway pages. This is due to the fact that normally doorway pages forward to your main website and never the other way round.
By clicking the Multi-Submission button you can create a text file for the submission with Hello Engines! Professional. This function is very helpful as you do not need to enter the created URLs manually for submission.
Tip: Submit each of the created doorway pages separately to search engines, to make sure that they are indexed. If you do not submit the doorway pages, it may happen that some search engines do not include them automatically, which means that there would be no use of the created doorway pages.
